BUK Invites Students to Serve as INEC Adhoc Staff for Upcoming Bye-Elections

The Deanery of Student Affairs at Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has announced an opportunity for students to participate as adhoc staff in the upcoming INEC-Kano State Bye-Elections, scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026.

The initiative, directed by the Dean, Professor Mukhtar Ridwanu Bunza, aims to involve willing and available students in the democratic process. The commitment period, which includes both training and election duties, is slated for February 13th, 14th, 15th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd, 2026.

In light of the ongoing second-semester examinations, the university has instituted a strict screening process to ensure that academic responsibilities are not compromised. Interested students must meet the following criteria:

Clearance Letter: Applicants must obtain and submit a formal clearance letter from their respective Level Coordinators or Heads of Department (HODs) confirming their availability.

Registration Deadline: Successful students must submit their details at the Deanery of Student Affairs on or before February 8, 2026.

Due to high interest and the critical nature of the role, the university has capped the recruitment at 1,000 students. Selection will be conducted strictly on a "first-come, first-served" basis.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Haruna Musa, through the Deanery, emphasized that only students with verified clearance will be considered for nomination to INEC. This collaboration underscores BUK's commitment to national service and providing students with practical civic engagement opportunities.
