BUK Students Union Requests Overhead Pedestrian Bridges from Kano State Government

The Bayero University, Kano (BUK) Students' Union has written to the Kano State Government, requesting the construction of overhead pedestrian bridges near the university's campuses.

 

In a letter dated January 22, 2025, the union's leader, Comrade Umar Hamisu Kofar Na'isa, highlighted the safety risks posed by the absence of dedicated crossing points for pedestrians. He cited numerous near-miss incidents and accidents, resulting in injuries and fatalities.

The union commended the state government's completion of overhead bridges at Sabuwar Kofa, Dorayi Karshen Waya, and Rigiyar Zaki, which have improved safety and reduced crime. They urged the government to allocate funds for additional bridges, ensuring the safety and well-being of the university community.
