BUK Warns Content Creators Against Using University Name To Spread Unverified Information

The Management of Bayero University, Kano, BUK, has cautioned content creators operating social media pages and platforms bearing the University's name against publishing unverified information capable of misleading the public.

It has come to the University's attention that some of these platforms have recently announced the promotion of certain senior academics to the rank of Professor even though the promotion process has not been concluded.

According to the University, at this stage, the recommendations of the Appointments and Promotions Committee are yet to be forwarded to external assessors. A promotion to the rank of Professor only becomes official after the external assessment process is completed and the recommendation is approved by the University Council.

Content creators are therefore advised to refrain from publishing unconfirmed information and to verify all University-related news through BUK's official communication channels, including its verified social media platforms, official website, and the University Bulletin.

The University stated that it will not hesitate to take appropriate action against any individual or platform that continues to disseminate false or misleading information capable of damaging the reputation of the institution or misleading members of the public.
