Christ the King College Onitsha Wins World Affairs Challenge 2024 for Nigeria
Nigeria's Christ the King College (CKC) Onitsha secures the top spot at the World Affairs Challenge 2024 with their innovative project addressing global issues, marking a historic victory.
In a landmark achievement, Christ the King College (CKC) Onitsha has emerged victorious at the prestigious World Affairs Challenge (WAC) 2024, marking Nigeria's inaugural triumph in the event's 32-year history.
The World Affairs Challenge, organized by WorldDenver, provides a platform for high school students to devise innovative solutions for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year, students tackled pressing issues including climate change, poverty, and inequality.
Under the guidance of their coach, Mr. John Onuigbo, the team comprising Ekufu Ernest, Obuna Somtochukwu, Umeodinka Emmanuel, Ejike Ekene, and Ubah Jason, captivated the judges with their project titled "Wise Tales by Primus." This digital comic series aims to raise awareness and inspire positive change among youth by addressing environmental degradation, climate change, and substance abuse.

CKC Onitsha's journey commenced at the African Regional Competition, where they distinguished themselves as the highest-scoring Nigerian team and ranked within the top five in Africa. Their compelling performance secured them a spot in the global finals, where they left an indelible impression with their profound understanding and passionate presentation.
The judges lauded CKC Onitsha's project as "innovative, creative, and illustrious," commending their utilization of SMART indexes and extraordinary action plans for global outreach.

Today, amidst jubilant celebrations, CKC Onitsha was officially declared the World Affairs Challenge 2024 Global Champion, outshining competitors from across the globe. Notably, Redmond High School, WA, USA, and TEVITÖL High School, Turkey, clinched third and second place, respectively.
