Completion and Handover of Electrical Electronics Engineering Laboratory to FEDPOFFA Managemen

The Contractor handling the Construction and Furnishing of Laboratory for the Electrical Electronics Engineering Department, DWA Construction Company Limited, has officially handed over the magnificent edifice to the Management of the Polytechnic 

The Handing over ceremony which signals the readiness of the Laboratory for teaching, learning and research purposes was held at the Main Campus of the Polytechnic on Friday 12th April, 2024.

While receiving keys to the newly constructed Laboratory building on behalf of the Management, the Rector, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin, FNSE, appreciated the Consultant and Contractor for completing the project in less than six months which according to him is the contract period for the project and for standard works which would stand the test of time. He  admonished the contractor to keep up the good work. 

The Rector who said that the  Construction and Furnishing of the Laboratory for Electrical and Electronics Department was funded by the Tetfund 2023 Normal Intervention also disclosed that it is the first project started and completed by the present administration amidst other ongoing construction projects in the institution.

"It's a thing of joy for me today to stand before you on this auspicious occasion. In fact it is a very big occasion because this is the first project that my administration started from the scratch, completed and handed over today to the Management of this great school. Though we have other ongoing construction projects that were started by this administration but this is the first to be completed," he said.

While appreciating other Principal Officers for their unalloyed support, understanding, and commitment towards achieving his mission and vision for the Polytechnic, he assured the Polytechnic Community that his administration would neither compromise standard projects nor leave any project abandoned  during his tenure.

Speaking further, Engr. Dr. Kadiri disclosed that the Construction of Classrooms and Office Accommodation for the Urban and Regional Planning Department under Year 2024 Capital Projects and, the Construction and Furnishing of Civil Engineering Department under Year 2024 Tetfund Annual Intervention would commence next week and would be completed by September 2024. He disclosed further that equipment for FEDPOFFA Bread and Bottle Water were on the way to the Polytechnic. He added that before June this year, the production of FEDPOFFA Bread and Bottle Water would commence.

Earlier, the Project Consultant, QS Ajani Abdulazeez representing APD  Associate in his address noted that the site for the construction was handed over to the Contractor on the 18th of October, 2023. QS Ajani who is an alumnus of the Polytechnic informed the gathering that the project which was expected to be completed and handed over to the Management on 17th April 2024 was completed and handed over  earlier before the contract period.  

"This was achieved by the determination and commitment of all the building teams including the representative of the Management and Rector's frequent visit to monitor the progress of the construction," he added.

Similarly, the Contractor, DWA Construction Company Limited, Mr. Segun Olaoye, in his address congratulated the Management for the successful completion of the beautiful edifice. He stated that his construction company had handed over three Tetfund Projects and a Capital Project to the Polytechnic. He admonished the user department to properly maintain the facilities. 

Dean School of Engineering Technology, Engr. Dr. Samuel Obaje expressed appreciation to the Management led by Engr. Dr. Kadiri for facilitating the Laboratory project and securing many other intervention works for the Polytechnic. He further appreciated the support, assistance and commitment of the Management to the growth and development of the School of Engineering Technology. He assured the Management that the School would ensure the proper use of the edifice.

The facility has five laboratories, 5 offices each equipped with modern toilet facilities, and five stores for each laboratory.

The Rector was accompanied to the handing over ceremony by other Principal Officers, Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, Heads of Units and other staff members in attendance.
