Advancing Academic Excellence: FULokoja Seminar on Fair Grading Systems and Student Record Management"

The Directorate of Academic Planning, Federal University Lokoja (FUL) recently organized a one-day seminar for all examination officers, level coordinators, faculty officers, and other academic staff members, aimed at reviving and institutionalizing a fair grading system with emphasis on the need for accurate documentation of students' continuous assessment and examination scores. 

The seminar, which was attended by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi and other Principal Officers of the University, provided a platform for academic staff and relevant stakeholders to discuss standard procedures and best practices for a 21st Century students record management that would ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability.

Highlights of the event were papers presentation on "Registration Procedures for New and Returning Students: The Roles of Faculty Officers, Level Coordinators, and Examination Officers" by Professor S.D. Musa, Dean of Social Sciences; and "Marking Schemes" by Professor David Kolawole Omole, Dean of Education. Also, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, the Director of Academic Planning (DAP), Professor Hadi Suberu, and other speakers gave their separate remarks and valuable contributions to the wide-reaching discussion.

- lecturers must submit their Continuous Assessments (CAs) to their respective Heads of Departments (HODs) before the commencement of any examinations;

- lecturers must submit their marking schemes along with examination questions before the commencement of examinations; among others.
