Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) has appointed Dr. Obiefuna Obianuju Helen as Deputy Director of the Centre for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to advancing research, innovation, and scientific leadership.

Dr. Obianuju Helen is an Environmental Microbiologist with expertise in teaching, research, and project management. She holds a Ph.D., M.Sc., and B.Sc. in Environmental and Applied Microbiology from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and currently serves as Lecturer II in the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Natural Sciences, COOU, Uli Campus.

In her new role as Deputy Director, Dr. Obiefuna is expected to support interdisciplinary research initiatives, strengthen project management capacities, and contribute to the growth and innovation of COOU’s Centre for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering.
