COOU Appoints Prof. Anselem Chukwuemeka Nweke as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration and Environmental Sustainability

Professor Anselem Chukwuemeka Nweke, a distinguished scholar in Public Sector Management and Policy Studies at the Department of Public Administration, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam Campus, has been elected Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration and Environmental Sustainability.

Professor Anselem Chukwuemeka Nweke, a distinguished scholar in Public Sector Management and Policy Studies at the Department of Public Administration, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam Campus, has been elected Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration and Environmental Sustainability.

A product of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Nweke holds a B.Sc. (2001) and M.Sc. (2009) in Political Science, and earned his Ph.D. in Public Administration from COOU in 2016. He has undergone advanced training at the African Doctoral Academy, Stellenbosch University, South Africa, and participated in professional workshops with the American Association of Behavioral and Social Sciences, USA.

Since joining the then Anambra State University of Science and Technology in 2005, Prof. Nweke has served the university in multiple leadership roles, including Acting Head of Department, Chairman of key committees, and Member of the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee. He has also contributed to institutional development as part of the COOU Silver Jubilee Committee, Senate Ceremonial Committee, and as Chairman of the ICT Degree Result Verification Standing Committee.

A prolific academic, Prof. Nweke has authored and co-authored numerous books, book chapters, and journal articles published locally and internationally. He has mentored several Ph.D. and M.Sc. graduates, reflecting his commitment to nurturing academic excellence. Beyond COOU, he has served as a Guest Lecturer at the APGA Anambra State Retreat and is an active member of professional bodies including the Nigerian Political Science Association (NPSA) and the European Centre for Research Training and Development (UK).

Prof. Nweke’s dedication to institutional governance is evident in his roles as Director of JUPEB at COOU (2018–present), Member of the University Governing Council representing Senate (2018–present), and as a member of the Vice-Chancellor Nomination/Search Committee.
