The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has announced plans to introduce a one-year residency program for engineering students to enhance their skills post-graduation. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in the engineering field.
The President of COREN, Prof. Sadiq Zubair Abubakar, revealed this development during a press briefing ahead of the council's 32nd assembly in Abuja. The residency program is designed to provide graduates with hands-on experience, ensuring they are better prepared for the demands of the engineering profession.
In related news, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has introduced a mandatory skills qualification for polytechnic graduates, further emphasizing the importance of practical skills in technical education.
