Dorben Polytechnic Celebrates Victory in National Engineering Competition

Elder Dr. A. B. Ekwere, Chairman and Proprietor of Dorben Polytechnic Abuja, honored students who excelled in the recent National Practical Competition. The event, held on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Council Chamber of the Institution, recognized the remarkable achievements of Isaiah Isaiah Bassey and Omagu Michael Ochiche, who clinched top awards in the competition organized by the Committee of Deans of Engineering of Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology (COMPODET).

The Chairman lauded the students for their exceptional performance and innovative contributions in engineering and technology. “Your victory is a testament to your dedication, hard work, and innovative thinking,” Dr. Ekwere said. “This achievement reflects the values and principles our Institution upholds. We are proud of you and excited about your future endeavors.”

The Dean of the School of Engineering, Engr. Oladapo Bejide, presented a detailed report highlighting Dorben Polytechnic’s accomplishments:

- The Institution was the only private entity among federal and state institutions to win in two categories.

- Two Dorben Polytechnic projects were among the top three innovations selected by NASENI.

- The winning students have been invited to showcase their talents in NASENI programs later this year.

- Dorben Polytechnic achieved 1st positions in both ND and HND categories.

Engr. Bejide praised the students' performance as exemplary and thanked the Chairman for his support and recognition.

In addition to the accolades, the Chairman presented the students with cash awards and letters of commendation. He urged them to continue pursuing excellence and to leverage their acquired skills for future success. “This achievement is just the beginning. Continue to push boundaries and strive for greatness,” Dr. Ekwere encouraged.

Dr. Ekwere, an American-trained accountant and renowned educationist, is known for his commitment to technical education. Under his leadership, Dorben Polytechnic and its associated institutions have made significant strides in advancing education in Nigeria.
