Dr. Akpan Ekwere, the founder of Dorben Polytechnic, has issued a strong criticism of recent federal policies he claims are undermining polytechnic education in Nigeria. Speaking at a recent event, Dr. Ekwere, who is also an American-trained accountant, expressed concern over the government's neglect of polytechnic institutions.

Dr. Ekwere highlighted his personal success in training 76 chartered accountants through Dorben Polytechnic, yet he believes that such achievements are overshadowed by policy decisions that fail to support the growth and development of polytechnic education. "The government's current policies are not only harming polytechnic education but also contradict the fundamental mission of these institutions," Dr. Ekwere stated.
