Dorben Polytechnic Abuja has claimed victory in the National Practical Competition organized by the Committee of Deans of Engineering of Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology (COMPODET). The event took place during the 32nd Engineering Assembly held in Abuja, attracting participants from various educational institutions across Nigeria.

The competition aimed to showcase innovative solutions from contestants representing Polytechnics, Monotechnics, and Colleges of Technology in the country. This year's edition featured three categories: National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), and Most Innovative Staff.

In the fiercely contested National Diploma category, Isaiah Isaiah Bassey from the Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering impressed judges with his project titled Design and Modelling of Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Along Highways for Small Scale Power Generation, earning him first place with a score of 81.5%.

Similarly, in the Higher National Diploma category, Ekong Samuel Daniel, a talented student from the Computer Engineering Technology program, showcased his innovative project Design and Implementation of a Density-Based Car Traffic Control System, securing first position with a score of 78.7%*.

The Most Innovative Staff category was won by a lecturer from Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State.

This notable achievement has been attributed to the proactive leadership of **Elder Dr. A. B. Ekwere**, the Proprietor/Chairman of the Management Board. Dr. Ekwere has been instrumental in enhancing Polytechnic Education by providing the necessary facilities and equipment to foster innovation, creativity, and academic excellence. His commitment is focused on cultivating talented individuals who will significantly impact their fields.

The Chairman of the Management Board extended heartfelt congratulations to the entire Polytechnic community, especially to Engr. Oladapo Bejide, Dean of the School of Science and Engineering, and all staff and students within the school, for their dedication to adhering to academic standards.
