Edo State University Iyamho VC Pledges Transformation through Digitalization and Sustainable Practices
The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Edo State University, Iyamho, Professor Victor Olawale Adetimirin, has pledged to transform the institution into a world-class university through functional education, digitalization, and sustainable practices.

He made this known during his maiden press briefing where he outlined his vision for the university.
On digitalization and transparency, Professor Adetimirin stressed that the institution would adopt full-scale digital operations to ensure accountability in admissions, student records, and budget management. According to him, this approach would curb corruption, eliminate wastage, and introduce a data-driven system for effective decision-making.
Speaking on sustainability and infrastructure, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of pursuing a circular economy approach that focuses on reuse, recycling, and regeneration. He noted that Edo State University Iyamho would align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in creating a sustainable campus that could compete with the best globally.
Highlighting academic excellence and research, Professor Adetimirin reiterated his commitment to strengthening programmes that are contextually relevant, rigorous, and globally competitive. He assured that his administration would encourage staff to publish in internationally recognized journals to enhance the university’s reputation and global ranking.

On welfare, the Vice-Chancellor sought the cooperation of both staff and students, promising improved support systems for academic and personal development. He maintained that staff would have an enabling environment to conduct world-class research while also catering for their families.
Professor Adetimirin expressed appreciation to the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for appointing him as the substantive Vice-Chancellor. He also commended the state government for its role in rapidly developing the institution’s infrastructure.
With these initiatives, Edo State University Iyamho is set on a path to becoming a leading higher institution in Nigeria and beyond, recognized for excellence, sustainability, transparency, and innovation.
