The Ekiti State University Student Union (EKSU SU), led by "Team Versatility," has directed all students to immediately stop payment of the newly imposed ₦10,000 late registration fee, describing it as an “unjust imposition” and exploitative in light of current economic challenges.
In an official memo dated 24 January 2026, Union President Osunyomi Hezekiah Anjola and General Secretary Ojotu Olamipo Opemipo called on all students to refrain from making any portal transactions related to the late fee, emphasizing that paying individually would weaken collective bargaining efforts.
“Paying this fee now not only undermines our bargaining power but also betrays fellow students who genuinely cannot afford the burden,” the Union stated.

The Union highlighted three primary objectives for the boycott:
- Force a Reversal: Pressure the university to reconsider or cancel the penalty.
- Collective Leverage: Strengthen bargaining power to negotiate with school authorities.
- Registration Extension: Secure an official extension of the registration window without extra charges.
Students were urged to remain calm, law-abiding, and united, sharing the directive across departmental and faculty channels to prevent anyone from “breaking ranks.” The memo concluded with a warning: “An injury to one is an injury to all.”
