Empowering Futures: Lulu-Briggs Foundation Awards Law Scholarships to 59 Rivers Students

The O.B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation has continued its steadfast commitment to enhancing legal education in Nigeria by presenting N120,000 in cash and brand-new laptops to 59 law graduates from Rivers State. The occasion, which marked the 15th Law School Students Scholarships Award Ceremony, was held in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, and coincided with the 94th posthumous birthday of its benefactor, the late High Chief O.B. Lulu-Briggs.

Established in 2009, the foundation aims to support law students who require assistance with the increased Nigerian Law School admission fees. Mrs. Seinye O.B. Lulu-Briggs, Chairman of the foundation, highlighted the enduring legacy of her late husband, emphasizing his generous contributions that sustain the foundation's mission.

Addressing the broader impact of legal education, Mrs. Lulu-Briggs underscored its pivotal role in addressing regional challenges such as those in the Niger Delta and strengthening civil society. She emphasized that legal professionals play crucial roles in upholding justice, defending marginalized rights, and ensuring accountability in governance.

Mrs. Lulu-Briggs expressed the foundation's readiness to expand its collaborations with governments, individuals, institutions, and corporations to further its educational outreach. The event also featured an engaging lecture titled 'Navigating the Legal Landscape: Through the Lenses of an Academic,' delivered by Professor Oluyemisi Adefunke Bamgbose, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) at the University of Ibadan and the first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

The ceremony, chaired by Prof. Nlerum S. Okogbule, Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University, celebrated the foundation's philanthropic contributions to education, health, and well-being, and applauded the scholarship recipients for their academic excellence.
