Fake NYSC Member Arrested in Nasarawa Camp
Nansel stated that the suspect has been charged with criminal trespass, impersonation, and forgery at the Chief Magistrate Court in Keffi.
A fake National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Ogeh Bethel Chibuife, has been apprehended by the Nasarawa State Police Command for illegally entering the Magaji Dan Yumusa Orientation Camp in Keffi, the state capital.
According to the state police spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel, the suspect, an extra-year student of Public Administration at Ebonyi State University, attempted to participate in the 21-day orientation program for the 2024 Batch A Stream 1 corps members. She was discovered during a headcount conducted by NYSC officials.
Investigations revealed that the suspect had not graduated as claimed and had multiple spillover courses. In an attempt to deceive her parents, she purchased NYSC uniforms and other items and sneaked into the camp to take pictures.
Nansel stated that the suspect has been charged with criminal trespass, impersonation, and forgery at the Chief Magistrate Court in Keffi.
The Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada, warned against such fraudulent activities, emphasizing that the law would catch up with perpetrators.
This incident follows a similar case in the Bauchi State orientation camp, where a fake corps member was apprehended for entering the camp with a forged call-up letter and stealing valuable items from other corps members.
