The Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, has strengthened its collaboration with the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) in a renewed drive to expand oil and gas training infrastructure within the institution.

The partnership focuses on the development of specialized facilities designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical industry application, particularly in petroleum engineering, geosciences, and technical vocational training.
On Monday, June 8, 2026, a team of technical and operational experts from NLNG and NCDMB, led by Dagogo Bouwari and Dokubo Obongo, visited the institution to formally commence the Marine Engineering Project. The project marks a key milestone in the institution’s efforts to build world-class capacity for the oil and gas sector.
The initiative is part of NLNG’s broader institutional support programme aimed at strengthening STEM education and developing human capital through the provision of modern engineering laboratories, simulation facilities, and industry-standard training environments. The infrastructure is expected to enhance students’ exposure to real-world industrial operations through practical and experiential learning.
Receiving the delegation, the Rector, Dr. Okolobah, alongside members of the management team, assured full institutional support for the successful execution of the project. He emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration in ensuring that the investment delivers long-term value for students and the broader energy sector.
He noted that the partnership represents a strategic step toward repositioning the polytechnic as a leading centre for specialized oil and gas education, with the capacity to produce industry-ready graduates equipped with relevant technical competencies.

The visiting team reaffirmed the commitment of NLNG and NCDMB to advancing educational infrastructure and supporting institutions that contribute to Nigeria’s energy sector development.
The project is widely regarded as a landmark development for the institution, reinforcing its strategic ambition to redefine technical education and strengthen Nigeria’s oil and gas human capital pipeline.
