The Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, will host the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for a sensitization and disbursement programme scheduled for 22nd January 2026, aimed at providing financial support to students and easing the burden of tuition and study-related expenses.
NELFUND, a government initiative, offers interest-free loans to eligible students for higher education, vocational training, and skills acquisition. Repayment begins only after employment through employer deductions, ensuring broader access to quality education without immediate financial pressure.
The sensitization programme will equip students with information on the application and disbursement process. Eligible students, both full-time and part-time, are required to provide the following:
- JAMB registration number
- National Identification Number (NIN)
- School ID card
- Reconciliation of names – names must match across NIN, JAMB registration, and admission letters.
The Polytechnic’s administration emphasized that effective communication and engagement with government initiatives such as NELFUND are key to unlocking opportunities and resources for students. The programme is part of ongoing efforts to provide practical support and improve access to education amidst challenging economic realities.
Students are strongly encouraged to participate and leverage this opportunity to secure funds that could alleviate financial pressures and support their academic journey.
