Federal Polytechnic Oko has added yet another feather to its cap by emerging as the overall winner of the Inter-Institutional Insurance Quiz Competition organised by the Department of Banking and Finance, Faculty of Management Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka.
The keenly contested competition featured outstanding students from leading tertiary institutions across the South-East, including Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, and Imo State University. Demonstrating exceptional knowledge and analytical skills, the Federal Polytechnic Oko team outperformed its counterparts to claim the coveted championship, with ESUT and IMT finishing second and third respectively.

Sponsored by International Energy Insurance (IEI) Plc, the competition commenced with a written qualifying examination before the quiz rounds. Participants were tested on the provisions of the newly enacted Insurance Act, with the exercise designed to broaden students' understanding of contemporary insurance practice and expose them to industry realities beyond classroom instruction.
For their outstanding performance, the Polytechnic's winning team received the top prize of ₦300,000, while the second and third-placed institutions were rewarded with ₦200,000 and ₦100,000 respectively.
Speaking during the event, the Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Chijioke Nwafor, encouraged students to pursue professional certifications alongside their academic studies, describing such qualifications as invaluable assets for career advancement. He further pledged to support professionally certified insurance graduates by facilitating employment opportunities for those yet to secure jobs after graduation.
