Federal Polytechnic Oko Rector Hands Over Site for New Student Hostel Construction

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, has officially handed over the construction site for a new student hostel to the project contractor, signaling the imminent commencement of the development.

The milestone event took place at the project site, where the Rector was represented by the Dean of Student Affairs, Comrade Chibuzor Asomugha. The initiative is part of the management's ongoing commitment to improving student welfare and addressing accommodation needs within the institution.

Speaking on behalf of the Rector, Comrade Asomugha assured the contractor, Engineer Philip Onome, of the management’s full cooperation. He emphasized Dr. Awuzie’s reputation as a "stickler for accountability" and charged the firm to deliver high-quality work strictly within the stipulated timeframe.

“The Rector wants to see that things are done right,” Asomugha noted, highlighting the administration's focus on transparency and infrastructural excellence.

The project consultant also addressed the gathering, urging the contracting firm to adhere to due process and maintain thoroughness throughout the construction phases.

In his response, Engineer Onome pledged to maintain a professional relationship with the polytechnic management. He assured the institution that the project would be delivered promptly and in accordance with the required engineering standards.

The new hostel is expected to significantly ease the housing pressure on the student population upon completion.
