The Honourable Commissioner of Information and Culture, KEBBI STATE, Hon. Yakubu Ahmed BK, accompanied by members of his media team, has paid an advocacy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of KASHIM IBRAHIM UNIVERSITY, KIU, Professor Babagana Gutti, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and promote knowledge sharing between state-owned universities.
The visit was aimed at providing the KEBBI STATE delegation with an opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of the developmental projects and institutional transformation taking place in BORNO STATE under the leadership of the Executive Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum.

Speaking during the visit, Hon. Yakubu Ahmed BK said the delegation was in BORNO STATE on the directive of the Executive Governor of KEBBI STATE to understudy some of the developmental initiatives of the BORNO STATE Government, particularly those relating to education, infrastructure and other sectors with direct impact on the people.
According to him, the visit was also intended to explore areas of collaboration between the two state-owned universities and to identify successful initiatives that could be adapted to suit the needs of KEBBI STATE.
“We are here to learn from the administration of the Executive Governor of BORNO STATE. We were directed by the KEBBI STATE Governor to pay this visit, and we are here to see first-hand the projects and initiatives being implemented in BORNO STATE,” the Commissioner stated.
Hon. Yakubu said the delegation had been impressed by what it witnessed during its engagement in the state, noting that the visit had provided valuable insights that would be taken back to KEBBI STATE.
He added that the delegation was returning home with useful ideas and a renewed commitment to strengthening collaboration between the two states and their respective institutions.
“We are here to see first-hand the projects being executed in BORNO STATE by Governor Babagana Zulum, and we have seen them. We are going home with something. We are truly impressed by what we have seen, and we intend to build a fresh level of collaboration with our state-owned university,” he said.
The Commissioner further commended the BORNO STATE Government for its investments in infrastructure and human capital development, stressing that such initiatives provide valuable lessons for other states seeking to improve the quality of education and public services.
Kiu Pledges Stronger Inter-State Collaboration
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor of KASHIM IBRAHIM UNIVERSITY, Professor Babagana Gutti, welcomed the Honourable Commissioner and his delegation to BORNO STATE and the University.
Professor Gutti expressed appreciation to Hon. Yakubu Ahmed BK for visiting the University and recalled the Commissioner's presence at the University's first Combined Convocation Ceremony, describing the occasion as a memorable and successful event.
He said the University was delighted to receive the delegation and expressed its readiness to establish a stronger relationship with institutions in KEBBI STATE through academic, administrative and professional exchanges.
The Vice-Chancellor assured the delegation that KASHIM IBRAHIM UNIVERSITY would also be willing to visit KEBBI STATE and learn from its experiences and institutional initiatives.
“We assure you that we will also visit KEBBI STATE and see something different that we can bring back and adapt for our state and our University. Collaboration is about learning from one another and sharing ideas that can improve our institutions,” Professor Gutti said.
The Vice-Chancellor commended the Executive Governor of BORNO STATE, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, for his sustained investment in education and infrastructure, particularly the development of the KASHIM IBRAHIM TEACHING HOSPITAL, which he described as a major project with significant potential to strengthen medical education, healthcare delivery and clinical training in the state.
He further emphasized that partnerships between state-owned universities could provide opportunities for the exchange of knowledge, expertise, research, academic programmes and best administrative practices.
