The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja, Prof. Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, has called on staff and stakeholders of the institution to embrace discipline, focus and collective responsibility as the university pushes forward under its new leadership.
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja, Prof. Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, has called on staff and stakeholders of the institution to embrace discipline, focus and collective responsibility as the university pushes forward under its new leadership.

Prof. Ibileye made the remarks during the 2026 Leadership Dialogue and Lecture organised by the Certified Institute of Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Education in collaboration with the university’s Faculty of Management Sciences.
The event, themed “The First 100 Days: The Building Blocks for Strategic Success for New Leaders in the University System,” featured a lecture delivered by Prof. John Olatunji Alabi of the Department of Business Administration, Federal University Lokoja.
Addressing participants at the event, the Vice-Chancellor said his administration was committed to purposeful governance, institutional growth and measurable impact rather than internal distractions and unhealthy politics.
According to him, the focus of his administration remains the overall development and advancement of the university.

“I have not spent one minute listening to gossip. What is important to me is how we can grow FUL together,” he said.
Prof. Ibileye urged staff members to align themselves with the university’s vision and improve efficiency in service delivery, stressing that delays and negligence within the system could negatively affect the lives and opportunities of others.
“If a memo stays on your table beyond twenty-four hours and it is not a public holiday, consider yourself a failure. Destinies are tied to those memos. Lives can change through them,” the Vice-Chancellor stated.
He also cautioned against abuse of office, administrative complacency and actions capable of discouraging productivity within the institution, insisting that leadership must be built on fairness, accountability and sincerity.
“We are partners in the development of FUL. We should not derail or be distracted. I came here to make impact. I came here to change the fortune of the Federal University Lokoja,” he added.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Prof. Gabriel Olorunleke, commended the Vice-Chancellor for what he described as visible progress and strong leadership within his first one hundred days in office.
He noted that the university community had witnessed deliberate reforms, improved administrative direction and renewed commitment to academic development since the beginning of the current administration.
Speaking during the lecture, Prof. Alabi identified strategic leadership, teamwork, accountability, institutional discipline and vision-driven administration as essential pillars for achieving sustainable success in the university system.
He stressed that meaningful growth in higher institutions depends largely on effective leadership, collective responsibility and the ability of administrators to build systems that outlive individual tenures.
