Federal University Wukari Appoints Prof. Benjamin Kefas as New Vice-Chancellor
The Federal University Wukari (FUWUKARI), Taraba State, has officially undergone a leadership transition following the appointment and subsequent handover to Professor Benjamin Kefas as the new substantive Vice-Chancellor.
The appointment was approved by the University Governing Council during an emergency meeting held on February 9, 2026, at the Secretariat of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (CVCNU) in Abuja. Professor Kefas succeeds Professor Jude Sammani Rabo, whose successful five-year tenure concluded this week.
In addition to the Vice-Chancellor, the Council announced a key change in the university’s principal officers:
University Librarian: Dr. Temboge Andrew has been appointed to the role, succeeding Dr. Isa Sidi Attahir following the expiration of his tenure.
The official transition took place on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in Abuja, where Professor Rabo formally handed over the university's affairs to Professor Kefas. The ceremony marks the beginning of a new administrative chapter for the institution as it seeks to build upon the academic and infrastructural milestones achieved over the last half-decade.
According to a press statement signed by Agya Ashu, the Acting Director of the Information and Protocol Department, these appointments were made in accordance with the established statutes governing federal tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
Professor Kefas is expected to lead the university in its mission to provide quality education and foster research and innovation within the Northeast region.
