FULafia Governing Council Extends Tenures of Bursar and Librarian

The Governing Council of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has approved a one-year extension for the tenures of the Bursar, Dr. Daniel Anjola Wilson, and the University Librarian, Professor Abiodun Olaide Lyoro. This decision was made during the Council's 6th Extraordinary Meeting.

The extensions align with Section 5, Subsection 5 of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provision) (Amendment) Act, 2012, which empowers the Governing Council to extend the tenures of key university officers under specific circumstances that promote institutional stability and strategic objectives.

In a statement issued by the Registrar of FULafia, Malam Nuradeen Abdu, the Council emphasized the importance of continuity in the University’s financial and administrative operations as a rationale for the Bursar's extension. The Council recognized Dr. Wilson's leadership in strengthening financial operations and ensuring fiscal responsibility. His tenure, initially set to end on May 5, 2025, has been extended to May 4, 2026, enabling him to complete ongoing automation and digitization processes within the bursary.

Similarly, Professor Lyoro's tenure extension reflects the Council's recognition of the need for continuity in the University’s academic administration. His exceptional contributions have led to the full accreditation of 98 percent of the University’s programs and the development of e-libraries for various faculties. The Council has extended his tenure from July 2, 2025, to July 1, 2026, allowing him to continue mentoring the incoming librarian and to oversee the completion of essential projects, including the establishment of an e-resource library.

This decision underscores the Governing Council's commitment to fostering stability and ensuring effective leadership at FULafia as it navigates future challenges and opportunities.
