FULafia Mathematics Department Hosts Colloquium to Honour Outgoing Vice-Chancellor

The Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Physical Sciences, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), has held a colloquium in honour of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, in recognition of his leadership and contributions to the University’s development.

The colloquium, themed: “The Power of Numbers: Modelling Nature, Diseases and Artificial Intelligence,” took place at the MIS Multipurpose Hall, Permanent Site Campus.

Speaking at the event, the Head of Mathematics Department, Dr Hassan Ibrahim, described Prof. Abdul Rahman as a visionary administrator whose leadership has strengthened FULafia’s academic and research direction.

The chairman of the occasion and Nasarawa State Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, Comrade Gabriel Agbashi, praised the vice-chancellor for creating an enabling environment for teaching and research.

In his remarks, Prof. Abdul Rahman emphasised the relevance of mathematics to innovation and societal problem-solving, urging staff and students to apply it beyond routine calculations.

The event featured lectures delivered by Prof. Tehermen Aboaiyar and Dr Vanenchi Peter Ayoo, and an award presentation to the vice-chancellor.
