FULafia to Launch New Department of Quantity Surveying, Says Vice-Chancellor

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has announced plans to establish a Department of Quantity Surveying within the university's Faculty of Environmental Design.

Professor Abdul Rahman made this announcement during a meeting with the Nasarawa State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) at his office in Lafia. He highlighted the vital role of quantity surveyors in ensuring efficient project management and resource utilization, aligning with FULafia’s commitment to academic excellence.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the establishment of the department would follow the upcoming resource verification and accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC). He also praised the contributions of NIQS members at the university, noting that one of them has been appointed to lead the university’s Physical Planning Directorate.

In response, the NIQS Nasarawa State Chapter, led by QS Ibrahim Mohammed Otaki, pledged support for the new department and commended Professor Abdul Rahman’s leadership. The meeting concluded with the presentation of a souvenir and a working document for the department's establishment.
