FULafia Vice-Chancellor Urges Heads of Department to Prioritize Accountability and Diligent Service

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has urged Heads of Department to demonstrate diligence, accountability and strong leadership in the discharge of their duties.

Abdul Rahman gave the charge during a hybrid meeting with the academic departments heads where he described departmental leadership as the backbone of the University’s success. 

He emphasised that effective coordination and commitment at the departmental level directly influence academic standards and institutional development.

He reminded them that they serve as representatives of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, calling on them to embrace self-leadership, continuous self-assessment, critical and creative thinking, teamwork and effective monitoring mechanisms. 

According to him, these qualities "are vital for staff discipline, service delivery and a conducive learning environment."

The vice-chancellor stressed that leadership goes beyond delegation, urging consistent monitoring, evaluation and accountability.

The meeting was attended by the incoming Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Prof. Mohammed Isah Kida, other principal officers, senior academics and non-teaching staff of the University."
