Federal University Lokoja (FULOKOJA) is celebrating its Founders' Day today, October 17, 2024, marking 12 years since the establishment of its Senate. The university's Senate was constituted on October 17, 2012, and has since grown from 14 members to 127, with 68 professors and 15 additional attendees.

Under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, FULOKOJA has experienced remarkable growth over the past 13 years. The university now has two campuses and several study centers outside Lokoja and Kogi State. Notable achievements include:

- Expansion of Faculties: from 4 to 10

- Growth in Academic Programs: from 32 to 58

- Increase in Student Population: from approximately 6,000 to 17,000

- Increase in Professors: from 24 to 68, comprising 59 male and 9 female faculty members

FUL has also established around 20 centers, institutes, directorates, and other divisions to enhance its global competitiveness and boost its internally generated revenue ¹.

This year's Founders' Day celebrations were originally scheduled for today but have been postponed to next week, between October 21 and 27, 2024, due to the upcoming Kogi State Local Government Elections.
