FULOKOJA Leads Campaign Against Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment

The Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has taken a bold step against sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment in academic spaces.

A one-day workshop themed "The University as a Safe Space: Addressing Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (SEAH) in Academic Spaces" was held at the Felele Multipurpose Hall, attended by students, lecturers, civil society organizations, and university management.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Olayemi Durotimi Akinwumi emphasized the university's commitment to protecting students and staff from sexual harassment.

The Director of the Institute of Gender Studies, Professor Ofure Aito, assured participants of available support structures and protection for victims.

Plans are underway to roll out FUL's comprehensive SEAH policy to ensure a safe and respectful academic environment.

The campaign included a symbolic road walk against sexual harassment and bullying, led by the Vice-Chancellor and other principal officers. This move demonstrates FUL's commitment to creating a safe and inclusive academic space.
