FUNAAB Library Hosts Alma Mater Of Pioneer Vice-Chancellor

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) on September 23, 2025, received the Principal, staff, students, and Old Boys of Ibadan Boys’ High School (IBHS), Oke Bola, Ibadan, the alma mater of the late Prof. 'Nimbe Adedipe (IBH 490), pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the University, on a historic visit to the Nimbe Adedipe Library.

The visit was filled with excitement and reflection as the delegation paid glowing tributes to Prof. Adedipe’s enduring legacy. The School Principal described him as a worthy ambassador of IBHS, praising his immense contributions to education and national development, which continue to inspire generations.

Welcoming the visitors, the University Librarian, Prof. Abayomi Owolabi, showcased the Nimbe Adedipe Collection, a special section housing the late scholar’s personal books and academic resources, generously donated to the Library. He explained that the collection serves as a lasting testimony to Prof. Adedipe’s academic journey and professional impact.

The students were taken on a guided tour of the Library, including the Automation Unit, Reference Unit, Circulation Unit, Reserved Books Section, and the Learning Resources Unit. Dr. Akintola encouraged them to embrace reading as a lifelong habit capable of unlocking knowledge and opportunities.

The occasion also reunited distinguished Old Boys of IBHS currently serving at FUNAAB, including Prof. Adeniran, Mr. Rahman Adeosun, and Mr. Adenekan, who joined in honouring their late schoolmate and mentor.

In his closing remarks, the University Librarian pledged to strengthen institutional ties through collaborative engagements, including a reciprocal visit to the IBHS Library.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of a gift to Ibadan Boys’ High School by staff of the Nimbe Adedipe Library, marking the visit as a memorable celebration of legacy, education, and partnership.
