FUNATO Set for Resumption: Management Deploys 800 Bed Spaces and Solar-Powered Hostels

 The Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO) is finalizing major infrastructure and welfare arrangements as it prepares to welcome students for the resumption of academic activities on Friday, March 6, 2026. 

Under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Professor Olaniyi Jacob Babayemi, the university has collaborated with community leaders and private partners to ensure a seamless transition for the incoming "forward-looking" matriculating scholars. 

Expansion of Accommodation: The University has concluded arrangements for the installation of 400 double bunks, providing 800 bed spaces across strategic hostel locations in Okeho and its suburbs. Fabrication is expected to be completed by Wednesday, March 4.

Modern Amenities: To enhance the student experience, each designated hostel will feature solar-powered amenities, reinforced security, and controlled access portals.

Hall Warden System: The institution will implement a traditional Hall Warden system to maintain discipline, order, and provide responsive support to students.

Important Dates for Parents and Students:

Sunday, March 1: The University will officially publish the exact locations of the approved hostels to assist families with planning.

Friday, March 6: Official resumption of academic activities.

In a statement, Prof. Babayemi emphasized that the university and the Okeho host community are united in prioritizing student welfare and security. "We are dedicated to delivering a seamless, inspiring, and productive start to this epoch-making semester," he stated, welcoming students to a "vibrant campus life." 

Parents and guardians accompanying their wards have been assured of a coordinated effort to provide an environment focused on excellence, innovation, and safety.
