FUOYE Scholars Secure Prestigious TETFund Grants for Innovative Research

The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has recorded a significant milestone in research excellence, with scholars securing prestigious National Research Fund (NRF) grants from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for groundbreaking research in energy, media, and cancer therapy.

Professor Olayide Lawal's research team will explore sustainable energy production from plant biomass, aiming to develop a biorefinery prototype for biofuel production and contribute to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal on climate change and energy security.

Another scholar, Dr. Toyin Onayinka, will lead an interdisciplinary research project to create a national hub on fake news and misinformation, developing a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) tool to flag, classify, and visualize falsehoods in real-time.

Dr. Emmanuel Adelaja Bamigbola's research team will focus on developing innovative nano-engineered plant-derived therapy to combat breast and prostate cancer, isolating bioactive compounds from plants with anticancer activities and applying cutting-edge nanotechnology.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olubunmi Shittu, congratulated the research teams, emphasizing that FUOYE will continue to prioritize research and development that addresses societal demands.
