FUTA Alumnus Olaitan Adesomoju Donates Television Sets to Boost FUTA Radio Operations
A former President of the Alumni Association of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Dr. Olaitan Adesomoju, has donated two 55-inch television sets to FUTA Radio in a move to strengthen the station’s operations and service delivery.

The presentation, held on March 18, 2026, saw the Chairman of the Board of FUTA Radio, Professor Tomola Obamuyi, receive the items on behalf of the board and the station.
Dr. Adesomoju, who currently serves as a member of the FUTA Governing Council representing Alumni/Convocation, explained that the donation was driven by the station’s strategic role in promoting the university, particularly its impact in connecting global audiences during FUTA’s 40th anniversary activities. He also noted that the gesture aligns with the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji’s call for alumni to actively give back to the institution.
He encouraged members of the university community to embrace a culture of contribution toward institutional development and reaffirmed his commitment by pledging additional support in the form of air conditioning units to enhance operational efficiency at the station.

In response, Professor Obamuyi commended the donor for his continued support and reaffirmed the board’s commitment to advancing FUTA Radio’s growth. He also acknowledged the efforts of the Acting Station Manager, Mrs. Taye Fagbuyi, for her leadership and drive toward improving the station’s performance.
Mrs. Fagbuyi, in her remarks, expressed appreciation for the donation, describing it as a reflection of strong alumni engagement and partnership. She noted that the equipment would significantly enhance the station’s broadcasting capacity and overall service delivery.
The event was attended by key stakeholders, including Professor Felix Alao, Director of Open and Distance Learning; Professor Ganiyu Oboh, Director of Advancement Centre; and Dr. Ayokunle Ademosun, Associate Director, among others.

The donation reinforces the growing role of alumni contributions in strengthening institutional infrastructure and sustaining university development initiatives.
