FUTH Wukari Receives Pioneer Cohort of 400-Level MBBS Students
The Federal University Teaching Hospital Wukari (FUTHW) reached a significant landmark on April 16, 2026, as it officially welcomed its first-ever cohort of 400-level MBBS students for clinical training.
The arrival of these students marks a new era for medical education in Taraba State, transitioning the university's pioneer medical class from basic sciences to intensive clinical instruction.
In his welcoming address, the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Professor Ayuba Dauda Madachi, expressed full confidence in the hospital’s readiness to host the trainees. He highlighted the availability of essential infrastructure and pledged a high standard of instruction, particularly in critical foundational areas such as Pathology.
"Success in this field requires total commitment," Prof. Madachi stated, urging the students to maintain strict discipline and adhere to medical ethics under the guidance of their consultants and lecturers.

The delegation was led by the Dean of Basic Clinical Sciences at Federal University Wukari, Professor Agabi N. Manasseh, who described the engagement as both symbolic and strategic. He noted that as the first cohort of future medical doctors for the institution, these students carry the responsibility of setting the standard for the college.
Professor Manasseh commended the CMD for his proactive leadership in ensuring the hospital was equipped and ready for the students ahead of schedule. The successful integration of these students into the hospital environment is seen as a major leap toward addressing healthcare manpower shortages in Nigeria.
The Public Relations Unit of FUTH Wukari confirmed that this transition sets a solid foundation for the training of a new generation of healthcare professionals within the region.
