FUTMINNA and DRDB Explore Collaboration on AI, Aerospace, and National Security

The Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, and the Defence Research and Development Bureau (DRDB) have expressed interest in collaborating on research and development in areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), aerospace, and national security.

During a courtesy visit to FUTMINNA by a six-man delegation from DRDB, led by Major General Aliyu E.A. Ndagi, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, emphasized the potential for collaboration in these areas to address national security and development challenges.

Prof. Kuta highlighted the importance of drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to outline specific areas of collaboration, stressing that academic research is focused on addressing emerging societal challenges.

Major General Ndagi expressed the bureau's interest in partnering with FUTMINNA to leverage the university's expertise in supporting the defence sector. He emphasized the significance of research collaboration between the bureau and academic institutions for national security and socio-economic development.

The delegation also engaged in an interactive session with researchers and principal investigators from the university, and exhibited the university's research products.

The DRDB, established in 2019, is responsible for conducting and coordinating research activities and development of the Armed Forces, including providing strategic direction for self-reliance and security needs.
