In line with the 2024 International Toilet Day theme, "Use the Toilet and Have Peace," Jagamato Community Development Initiative (JCDI) organized a significant awareness event at General Murtala Mohammed College (GMMC), Yola, to promote responsible toilet use and combat open defecation.

The event featured an engaging lecture aimed at educating students on the critical role of proper sanitation in fostering health and environmental sustainability. Mubarak Umar Dirdiu, a speaker at the event, underscored the importance of maintaining clean toilets and adhering to sanitation practices that bring peace to communities. He also detailed the detrimental effects of open defecation on public health and the environment.

JCDI Program Assistant, Evelyn Emmanuel, added an insightful session on personal hygiene, emphasizing the necessity of adopting daily hygienic practices for overall well-being. Her passionate address left a lasting impression on the students.

Further inspiring the audience, JCDI Program Manager, Mr. Elvanus Ewaram, shared the organization's mission of driving sustainable development across communities. He encouraged the students to be ambassadors of change, promoting healthy sanitation habits both in school and at home.

The event concluded with an expression of gratitude from the school's Principal, Mohammed Alhaji Musa, who appreciated JCDI's efforts in selecting GMMC as a venue for this impactful program.

To bolster the school's sanitation practices, JCDI donated an array of cleaning supplies, including disinfectants such as Dettol and Izal, along with detergents and other toiletries. The items were received by the school's Head Boy, Luka Tuwanga, on behalf of the students.
