Godfrey Okoye University to Confer Certificates on 560 Graduates at 13th Convocation

Announcing the details during a live broadcast on Dreams FM Enugu, Mrs. Lynda Ugwuonah, Chairperson of the Senate Ceremonies Committee, noted that the graduates span the Faculties of Management and Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Environmental Studies, Law, Arts and Education, as well as the School of Postgraduate Studies. She also revealed that two distinguished Nigerians will be awarded honorary doctorate degrees, while two senior academics will receive the title of Professor Emeritus.
The convocation activities will span an entire week, beginning with a Holy Mass on Sunday, 30th November. Monday is designated as Competition Day, while Tuesday, 2nd December, will feature the GOUNI Marathon and a news briefing. Wednesday is set aside for Creativity Day, with Thursday dedicated to the Parents’ Forum and Entrepreneurship Day. Friday will host the Convocation Lecture, Hall of Fame inductions, and the conferment of Professor Emeritus, culminating in the certificate presentation on Saturday. Another Holy Mass on Sunday, 7th December, will formally close the events.

Professor Mrs. Modesta Egiyi, Chairperson of the GOUNI Marathon Committee and University Bursar, highlighted that over 70 percent of GOUNI graduates secure employment after their national service, attributing this achievement to the practical and industry-relevant skills imparted during their studies. She further announced that the university’s new DNA Centre at the main campus in Ugwuomu Nike will be inaugurated in December 2025.
Professor Egiyi also emphasized that the GOUNI Marathon, introduced in 2022, continues to promote health, sportsmanship, and unity among Nigerian youths. She assured that all safety protocols are in place and stated that participants deemed medically unfit or found engaging in malpractice will be barred from participation.
