Gov. Adeleke Urges UNIOSUN Staff to Avoid Disruptions, Lauds "No-Strike No-Aluta" Policy
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, urged staff at Osun State University (UNIOSUN) to avoid conflicts that could hinder the institution's development during the university's 14th convocation ceremony.
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called on staff members of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) to avoid any form of crisis that could impede the institution's progress. Speaking at the 14th convocation ceremony held at the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Auditorium in Osogbo, the governor emphasized that his administration fully supports the decisions made by the university’s Governing Council and management regarding staff welfare.
Governor Adeleke praised UNIOSUN’s unique "no-strike, no-Aluta" policy, describing it as a significant factor in the institution’s rapid growth. He clarified that the policy is not oppressive but rather a reflection of quality leadership within the university’s governance structure.
"I have noted that UNIOSUN has established a 'no-strike, no-Aluta' tradition, and it is this culture that has kept the university running smoothly when others were facing disruptions. This does not indicate oppression or dictatorship but signifies strong leadership at all levels," said Adeleke.
The governor also warned staff members against using political or ideological reasons to stir unrest, urging them to respect decisions made by the university’s Governing Council in line with the law.
Vice-Chancellor of UNIOSUN, Professor Clement Adebooye, in his address, highlighted the importance of increased investment in education to tackle Nigeria’s growing challenges. He commended the institution’s resilience in navigating economic difficulties while maintaining a multi-campus structure and focusing on global competitiveness.
“Osun State has been specially blessed with this highly promising university that has defied all odds. Despite the financial strain of maintaining multiple campuses, UNIOSUN remains focused on its goal of being a 21st-century institution with excellence and relevance,” Professor Adebooye stated.
