Governor Fintiri, REA Chief Inspect Landmark AfDB-Funded Solar Project at MAU Yola
The Executive Governor of Adamawa State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, on Monday visited Modibbo Adama University, Yola, on an inspection visit to the MAU Solar Farm.
The Governor was accompanied by the Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Mr. Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and other officials of the agency.
They were received on behalf of the Vice Chancellor by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Iliyasu Audu.
The solar power project is being financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB) in collaboration with the Rural Electrification Agency, to provide sustainable electricity supply and support renewable energy training within the university community.
During the inspection, the Governor and his delegation were taken round major sections of the facility, including the solar farm, control and distribution rooms, generator section, and the training centre where students will receive practical training in solar installation and management.

Representatives of the African Development Bank and officials of the REA, briefed the Governor on the level of progress achieved and preparations toward the commissioning of the project.
Governor Fintiri expressed satisfaction with the work completed so far and commended the initiative for its contribution to stable electricity supply and academic development at the university.
The university currently enjoys 24-hour electricity supply from the facility, which is expected to be officially commissioned soon.
