Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, extended his congratulations to the 2024 Batch 'B' Stream 2 Corps Members on their swearing-in ceremony and successful completion of their academic journey. Governor Makinde, represented by Mrs. Olubukola Oladipo, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, made this pledge during the orientation course for the newly mobilized Corps Members at the Oyo State NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Iseyin.
In his address, Governor Makinde acknowledged the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) as a vital scheme that fosters national unity and integration, transcending ethnic divisions and promoting collective national progress. He reassured the Corps Members of a conducive atmosphere and adequate welfare throughout their service in Oyo State.
Governor Makinde encouraged the Corps Members to take full advantage of the opportunities presented during their orientation, including physical drills, lectures, and the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program. He emphasized that these activities are designed to enhance their personal growth and professional development.
The Governor expressed confidence in the warm hospitality of the people of Oyo State and reiterated his administration's unwavering commitment to ensuring the welfare of the Corps Members.
In her welcome address, Alhaja K.O. Mustapha, Director of Youth Development at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, who represented the Chairman of the NYSC Governing Board, urged the Corps Members to exhibit exemplary behavior, adhere to camp rules, and actively participate in all camp activities.
Comrade Odoba Abel Oche, State Coordinator of NYSC Oyo, praised Governor Makinde for prioritizing issues concerning the NYSC and assured the Corps Members of the camp officials' dedication to making their stay both productive and memorable.
The ceremony highlighted the state’s commitment to supporting the NYSC scheme and fostering a positive and enriching environment for the Corps Members during their service year.
