Homeless Teen Dylan Chidick Earns Acceptance to 17 US Universities
Acknowledging his mother's courage in seeking help from the non-profit "Women Rising," Dylan emphasized that the support they received, including permanent supportive housing, fueled his determination.
Dylan Chidick, a determined 17-year-old facing homelessness, has overcome adversity by earning acceptance to 17 universities in the United States. Hailing from New Jersey, Dylan, who moved to the U.S. from Trinidad at the age of 7, is determined to become the first in his family to attend college.
Life presented numerous challenges for Dylan, including homelessness and serious heart illnesses affecting his younger twin brothers. Despite these hardships, he emerged as the senior class president and an honor society member at Henry Snyder High School. Dylan's resolve to pursue higher education and break the cycle of adversity led to his acceptance by multiple universities.

“My family went through a lot, and there have been a lot of people saying, ‘you can’t do that,’ or ‘you’re not going to achieve this,’ and me getting these acceptances kind of verifies what I have been saying. I can do it, and I will do it,” he expressed.

While dealing with financial challenges, all costs for Dylan's college applications were waived. The non-profit organization facilitated this process for him. Dylan, who plans to study Political Science, remains undecided on his college of choice.
