JAMB Waives Registration Fee for Persons with Disability in 2024 UTME
In a significant move towards inclusivity, the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has declared that the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for the year 2024 will be free of charge for individuals with disabilities who intend to register.
Prof Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, revealed this during a media interactive session marking the commencement of the 2024 UTME registration. He announced that JAMB will provide application documents free of charge to all categories of persons living with disabilities.
To ensure equal opportunities, Oloyede stated that audio books would be provided for blind candidates, with compatibility in popular formats like MP3, WMV, and WMA. This initiative is a digital adaptation of traditional reading books, aiming to facilitate a better understanding of the subject/text for visually impaired candidates.
Moreover, diagrams will be omitted from the questions presented to blind candidates in the 2024 UTME. As an additional measure, an e-copy of the reading text will be offered free to all categories of candidates registering for the exam.
Registration for the 2024 UTME commenced on January 15th, with a registration fee of N6,200 for candidates opting not to take the mock examination, and N7,700 for those participating in the mock.
