ICPC Reconstitutes, Inducts ACTU Team at Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, visited the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, on Tuesday, September 1st, 2026, to reconstitute and induct the institution’s Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit, ACTU, team.  

The exercise forms part of the Commission’s efforts to strengthen integrity, transparency, and accountability in public institutions.  

The ICPC delegation was led by Dr. Mrs. Ekere Usiere, Rivers/Bayelsa State Commissioner of ICPC. The visit was carried out under the Commission’s statutory mandate to promote ethical standards and good governance across public-sector institutions.  

In his welcome address, the Rector, Dr. Victor Okolobah, expressed gratitude to the Commission for the courtesy visit and reaffirmed the institution’s readiness to work closely with the ICPC to deter all forms of misconduct and malpractice in the discharge of public service.  

Speaking during the visit, the ICPC team emphasized the importance of collaboration in tackling corruption, noting that the problem continues to weaken development and reduce institutional effectiveness.  

Dr. Mrs. Usiere lauded the steady progress made in the polytechnic under the leadership of Dr. Okolobah, and stated that fostering a culture of integrity requires sustained commitment, ethical leadership, and transparent administrative processes.  

The Commission also stressed the need to deepen accountability and openness within the Polytechnic’s system, in line with national efforts to ensure that public institutions operate in accordance with established standards of probity and responsible management.  

Responding, Dr. Okolobah said the institution remains committed to supporting initiatives that advance transparency, accountability, and institutional integrity in the discharge of its educational and administrative responsibilities.  

The ACTU reconstitution and induction is expected to further strengthen compliance structures within the Polytechnic and reinforce its alignment with national anti-corruption objectives.
