IYILIK GUNU Foundation Donates 275 Rams to NWUK Staff in Major Eid Welfare Initiative
Hundreds of staff members of Northwest University Kano on Thursday, 28th May 2026, benefited from a special Eid-ul-Kabir gesture organized by the IYILIK GUNU Foundation, which donated and slaughtered 275 rams for distribution to members of the University community.
The humanitarian exercise, which took place at the Main Campus of the University, was aimed at supporting staff members during the Eid-ul-Kabir celebrations, a period widely associated with sacrifice, charity, and compassion among Muslims.
The Iyilik Günü Human Development Foundation, led by Mr. Iskandar Sezgin, is an international non-governmental organization that actively operates in the Kano region. The Foundation is widely recognized for its humanitarian, welfare, and educational support initiatives, particularly its partnership with local Nigerian universities in efforts aimed at combating hunger and supporting vulnerable communities.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, the Chairman of the Northwest University Kano Welfare Committee, Professor Ayuba Ahmad Rufa’i, expressed profound appreciation to the Foundation on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Amina Salihi Bayero, Management, staff, and students of the institution.

Professor Ayuba described the gesture as timely and highly commendable, especially considering the economic realities faced by many families. He noted that the intervention would go a long way in assisting beneficiaries to celebrate the Eid festivities with joy and dignity.
He praised the IYILIK GUNU Foundation for its generosity and commitment to humanitarian service, while calling on other individuals, organizations, and charitable foundations to emulate the kind gesture for the benefit of humanity.
According to him, “Eid-ul-Kabir is characterized by sacrifice, love, and sharing with others. This intervention has come at a very important time when many people are in need of support.”
The exercise witnessed an orderly distribution process as beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Foundation and the University management for facilitating the initiative.
The gesture further reflects the growing spirit of collaboration between international humanitarian organizations and educational institutions in promoting staff welfare and community support.
