JACMEDGEO Center Receives Vehicle Donation from DVC (RIL)
In a deliberate move to give the Jose A Centeno International Medical Geology Research Center (JACMEDGEO) a befitting outlook and enhance its operational capacity, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Linkages (DVC RIL), K’tso Nghargbu, has donated his personal vehicle to the Centre.
The donation, a Peugeot 607 saloon car, is aimed at addressing mobility and other logistical challenges of the Center. Presenting the vehicle to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, at the Senate Building of the University, DVC (RIL) Nghargbu explained that his gesture was driven by his passion and desire to see the Centre the first in the world is adequately equipped with a functional vehicle to support its day-to-day operations.
He noted that the vehicle would assist the Director of the Center in the effective running of the office and also enhance the status of the Center, positioning it to compete favorably with its peers nationally and internationally.
Receiving the vehicle, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, commended DVC (RIL) Nghargbu K'tso for what she described as a personal sacrifice made in the interest of institutional development. She recalled his pivotal role and unwavering commitment to the establishment of the Center, hailing his doggedness and dedication to ensuring that JACMEDGEO remains a globally recognised Center of excellence.
In his remarks, the Director of the Centre and Visiting Professor of Geology from South Africa, Professor Davies, expressed appreciation to the University Management for the warm reception and hospitality accorded him since his arrival in Nigeria. He assured that the vehicle would be put to proper and judicious use and pledged to bring his wealth of experience to bear in advancing the mandate and activities of JACMEDGEO.
The highlight of the event was the symbolic presentation of the vehicle by the DVC (RIL) to the Vice-Chancellor, followed by its formal handover to the Director of the Center.
