Nigerian music sensation Joseph Akinfenwa, popularly known as Joeboy, has extended a helping hand to a University of Lagos (UNILAG) student by generously donating N100,000 towards his tuition fees, providing much-needed financial relief.

The fortunate recipient of Joeboy's benevolence, Anjola Olanipekun, took to social media to express his heartfelt gratitude for the artist's generous gesture.

The gesture comes in response to recent unrest among UNILAG students after the university administration raised tuition fees to a range of N120,000 to N170,000. This decision had sparked widespread protests among students, who found it increasingly challenging to cover their educational expenses, despite the administration's modest 10% fee reduction, which fell short of their demands for a complete reversal of the tuition hike.

Joeboy, an alumnus of UNILAG, was moved by the financial hardships faced by today's students and decided to take action. He fondly remembered his time at the university when tuition fees were a modest N20,000. The stark contrast between his academic journey and the current financial burden on students, with fees exceeding N100,000, spurred him to offer his support.

The "Alcohol" hitmaker urged students to submit their payment receipts for consideration for the support fund, pledging to assist as many students as possible. Joeboy tweeted, "Unilag school fees during my time was 20k, and a lot of people were still struggling to pay. I can't imagine how hard it is for students now that it's over 100k. Please send me a DM with your payment slip if you need assistance. I'll help as many people as I can."
