Kaduna State University (KASU) has successfully secured a World Bank ACreSAL Grant, a major boost for its sustainability efforts. The grant, obtained through the Green KASU Sustainability Initiative, will facilitate the establishment of two greenhouses—one at the New Campus and another at the Kafanchan Campus—aimed at enhancing practical sustainability education.

On Friday, February 21, 2025, the ACreSAL team paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of KASU, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa. During the visit, the Chairman of Green KASU, Dr. Aliyu Jaafar, introduced the ACreSAL delegation and emphasized that the grant aligns with the university’s strategic goals. He highlighted the significance of the greenhouses as practical experimentation sites that will integrate sustainability into the curriculum and foster environmental consciousness among students and faculty members.

The Head of the ACreSAL team, Barrister Hadiza Halid, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting KASU in various areas, including dryland management, institutional strengthening, and climate resilience. She underscored that the collaboration aims to enhance KASU’s role in promoting sustainable environmental practices.

Expressing his gratitude, Prof. Musa commended ACreSAL’s support and lauded the Green KASU Initiative for its dedication to sustainability. He assured that the university would ensure the proper implementation and monitoring of the project to prevent setbacks and maximize long-term impact.
