ASUU Suspends Kaduna State University Strike After Government Intervention
The Kaduna State University (KASU) chapter of ASUU has suspended its strike, which began on February 18, following government intervention.

The Kaduna State University (KASU) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has officially suspended the strike it commenced on February 18, 2025. The decision to call off the strike was confirmed in a statement issued by the chapter's Chairman, Dr. Peter Adamu, on Monday.
According to Adamu, the resolution to suspend the strike was reached on Saturday after the Kaduna State Government demonstrated goodwill in addressing the issues that led to the industrial action.
"The government demonstrated goodwill in resolving the impasse by immediately releasing funds to pay the 60 per cent of September 2017 withheld salaries and Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) supervision allowance for five sessions," Adamu stated.
Additionally, the government agreed to a timeline for the payment of several outstanding entitlements, including the five months of withheld salaries from May to September 2022, promotion arrears, Earned Academic Allowance (EAA), pension remittance for the period spanning 2009 to 2019, death benefits, and Group Life Assurance.
The union extended its appreciation to Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State for his swift intervention and commitment to resolving the crisis. It also commended the university management, Commissioners for Education and Sports, as well as other key stakeholders, for their roles in ensuring a quick resolution of the impasse.
Dr. Adamu urged all academic staff members to resume their duties and continue providing invaluable services to the university community.
