In a significant advancement towards environmental protection, Kaduna State University (KASU) has partnered with the Humanitarian Enhanced Platform for Development (HePD) and the Kaduna State Government to tackle air pollution through innovative, data-driven strategies. The partnership was formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a key milestone in addressing air quality issues in the region.

Mr. Sayo Alabi, Lead Consultant at HePD, highlighted the organization's expertise in Open Street mapping across West and Northern Africa, emphasizing their proficiency in utilizing geospatial data for humanitarian and economic development. This collaboration will enable the monitoring of various atmospheric gases and particulate matter, providing essential data for informed decision-making.

Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa, Vice-Chancellor of KASU, praised the partnership, stating, "We are not just monitoring pollution; we are catalyzing change." Prof. Mande Kato Hosea, Deputy Provost of the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at Kafanchan Campus and a renowned expert in climate change, played a crucial role in securing the donation of air pollution monitoring equipment for the university. "This marks the dawn of a collaborative era, where academia, government, and NGOs join forces to safeguard our environment," said Prof. Hosea.

The signing ceremony was attended by notable figures including Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Prof. Yusha'u I. Ango; Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Prof. Muhammad Bashir Ali; Registrar Barr. Samira Balarabe; and Director of KASUConsult, Prof. HO Aboh.
