Kogi State Polytechnic Dismisses Senior Staff for Misconduct, Approves Promotion of 572 Personnel

The Governing Council of Kogi State Polytechnic has announced decisive disciplinary actions against several staff members for gross misconduct, while simultaneously approving a massive promotion exercise for diligent personnel.

The decisions were ratified during the Council’s 72nd Regular Meeting held on December 19, 2025, chaired by Professor Shuaibu Ibrahim.

As part of the institution’s commitment to academic integrity and a safe learning environment, the Council approved the following sanctions:

Dismissal for Sexual Molestation: Mr. Mukhtar Muhammed, a senior administrative officer, was dismissed from the service of the Polytechnic after being found guilty of sexual molestation.

Dismissal for Desertion: Mrs. Funmilayo Afolabi was dismissed for absconding from her duty post for a period of nine months without official approval.

Demotion for Negligence: Deputy Registrar, Mr. Audu Mathew, was demoted following findings of negligence in the discharge of his official duties.

The Polytechnic management reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy toward any form of harassment, dereliction of duty, or actions that undermine the institution's reputation.
